Lock It In Rate Guide
Virgin Voyages Lock It In rates: what you give up for the lower price
A Lock It In rate can lower the fare, but it is a guaranteed-category booking with strict limits. Check the cabin, flexibility, and lost promotional value before treating the price difference as savings.
Cabin Assignment
You choose the minimum category, not the exact cabin.
Virgin guarantees the category you booked or higher, but it controls the exact cabin and location. Assignment can happen close to sailing, and cabin changes are not allowed after assignment.
Do not rely on a possible upgrade. Choose the rate only if you would be comfortable in the minimum category and any location Virgin may assign.
Cancellation
The fare is intentionally rigid.
For current bookings, Virgin describes Lock It In payments as 100% non-refundable apart from taxes and fees, with no grace period, voyage-date change, name change, or Future Voyage Credit.
That can make a small upfront discount expensive if plans change. Travel protection is a separate decision and has its own covered reasons and exclusions.
Dining and Location
Standard cabins get later dining access, and location requests are a poor fit.
Virgin currently opens dining 15 days before sailing for Lock It In standard cabins. Lock It In RockStar and Mega RockStar suites retain the suite dining window, but the guarantee and change restrictions still matter.
Avoid this fare when you need an accessible cabin, connecting cabins, a quiet zone, a specific deck, or nearby cabins for a group unless Virgin has explicitly confirmed the requirement.
Promotion Math
Lock It In does not have one universal promotion rule.
Some Virgin promotions include certain Lock It In categories while others exclude them. The current percentage-off offer may include listed Lock It In cabins even when a separate instant-savings or onboard-credit offer does not.
Loot Locker counts a Virgin extra only when the official terms match the booking date, sailing, cabin, and rate. A cabin discount is shown separately from spendable Sailor Loot or Bar Tab.
Decision Rule
Book it only when the lower fare beats the value of flexibility and extras.
Compare the exact Lock It In total with an eligible standard fare on the same voyage. Include any promotion, onboard credit, cabin-location value, and change protection you would lose.
If the savings are still meaningful and you can accept any location within the guaranteed category, the rate can work. If plans, accessibility, connecting cabins, or location matter, choose a fare that allows changes.
